Guwahati — Orientation
Arrive in Guwahati, the gateway to Northeast India. Today is for settling in, collecting your Royal Enfield Himalayan, and a full bike orientation, safety briefing and route walkthrough with the team. Spend the evening resting and getting your gear ready before the adventure begins.
Guwahati to Umrangso
The expedition sets out eastward, climbing into the scenic hill district of Dima Hasao toward Umrangso. Ride along sweeping mountain asphalt and open vistas flanking the vast Kopili reservoir, known for its tranquil blue waters and rolling Scottish-style grasslands.
Umrangso to Haflong via Panimur
A scenic ride deeper into Dima Hasao, making a detour to the roaring Panimur Falls on the Kopili River before winding up the Borail mountain range to Haflong — Assam's only hill station. Enjoy quiet ridge roads, lush valleys, and cool mountain air.
Haflong to Bomdila
Descend from the Borail hills across the central Assam plains, cross the Brahmaputra corridor, and begin the exhilarating climb into the Eastern Himalayas of Arunachal Pradesh to the monastery town of Bomdila.
Bomdila to Mago
Ride deep into remote, high-altitude Arunachal toward Mago, tracing steep gorges, rugged dirt tracks, and remote river valleys. Arrive in the secluded wilderness of Mago, known for its natural hot springs and untouched Himalayan landscapes.
Mago & Chuna Valley Exploration
An unhurried, dedicated exploration day in one of India's most remote frontier regions. Ride the raw tracks towards the Chuna Valley, navigating glacial river crossings, alpine meadows, and jaw-dropping mountain backdrops far beyond any tourist radar.
Mago to Tawang
Leave the Mago valley and ride across high Himalayan mountain roads toward Tawang. Take in panoramas of high-altitude lakes and snow-capped ridgelines before descending into the historic monastic town.
Tawang & Bum La Pass
Spend the day exploring the magnificent 400-year-old Tawang Monastery — the largest in India — along with the Tawang War Memorial. Weather and permits permitting, ride up to high-altitude PTSO Lake and the legendary Bum La Pass on the Indo-Tibet border.
Tawang to Shergaon via Sela Pass
Begin the journey south, climbing the spectacular switchbacks to Sela Pass at 13,700 ft with its iconic lake. Then descend through lush pine forests and quiet mountain valleys to the serene, apple-orchard village of Shergaon in West Kameng.
Shergaon to Guwahati
The final ride descends through the foothills of Kalaktang and Bhairabkunda back to the plains of Guwahati, where the expedition concludes. Celebrate ten days and over 2,100 kilometres of extraordinary riding across Assam and Arunachal Pradesh.
