You enter overland at Phuentsholing and climb out of the foothills to Thimphu, cross Dochula Pass at about 10,200 ft past its 108 Druk Wangyal chortens, drop into the warm Punakha valley, and finish in Paro beneath Taktsang — the Tiger's Nest monastery, bolted to a cliff 900 m above the valley floor.

Smooth Curves & Gentle Himalayan Gradients

Smooth, well-maintained mountain highway with thousands of flowing corners and very little traffic. Gradients are steady and elevations stay largely between 700 and 3,100 m. The demand is on concentration and endurance rather than off-road struggle.

Spring Blooms & Autumn Festivals

March to May: Vibrant wildflowers, warm sunshine, and mild high pass temperatures.

September to November: Festival season (Tshechus), dry asphalt, and razor-sharp mountain visibility. We avoid the summer monsoon months.

Entry Route Permits & Sustainable Development Fee

Bhutan is entered on route permits arranged before departure. The Royal Government's Sustainable Development Fee (SDF) applies per night. We handle all visa paperwork, route permits, vehicle clearances, and fee processing seamlessly.
